Preparing for Your Endorsement Application
1) Become familiar with the endorsement materials and the competency system. Download a copy of the California Training Guidelines and Personnel Competencies for Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health (Revised) from this website and review the materials thoroughly. The summary tables on pages 39-40 describe the endorsements and the categories of documentation required. 2) Note questions about the endorsement process knowledge, experience or reflective practice facilitation requirements. Refer to the detailed Endorsement Step-by-Step document for clarification. Questions not answered in the Step-by-Step may be submitted to ecmhtrainingguidelines@wested.org 3) Gather materials that document your learning experiences. These will vary according to where you have received your training. These might include a certificate from a specialized infant mental health training program, certificates of attendance from conferences and community training courses, and transcripts that show coursework that cover the Knowledge Domains outlined in the California Training Guidelines and Personnel Competencies for Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health (Revised). You will be asked to electronically upload this information on the endorsement application. |
4) Check out your readiness. Refer to the chart on pages 39-40 in the California Training Guidelines and Personnel Competencies for Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health (Revised), along with your assembled documentation to determine whether the requirements for specialty training are met or whether they are gaps that need to be addressed. List clinical experience and reflect on ages of children served. Review reflective facilitation received while working with different age groups.
